Michael Jackson Trial Brings Media Attention to Trial Psychologist Dr. Jaine Fraser

Reporters Seek Her Expertise on Jury Selection in High Profile Cases

(Dallas) - As the eyes of the world turn to the trial of Michael Jackson, Dr. Jaine Fraser is also in the spotlight. The Dallas psychologist is a renowned expert in jury selection, and reporters from numerous media outlets have sought her opinions on the case.

In the first week of the trial alone, Dr. Fraser was interviewed by a number of Dallas-based news organizations including those from KXAS-TV NBC 5, News Radio 1080 KRLD and News Talk 820 WBAP. Dr. Fraser was also a live guest on 570 KLIF's "Ankarlo Mornings."

In addition, a news account including Dr. Fraser's thoughts on jury selection in the Jackson case was broadcast on more than 30 NBC television stations nationwide, including those in Los Angeles, CA, Boston, MA and Washington, D.C. Dr. Fraser's comments were broadcast by MSNBC and ITN in London, as well.

"It's great to have this opportunity to talk with people about the work that we do," Dr. Fraser says. "More than anything else, it's a chance to educate people - to tell them what sorts of things prosecutors and defense attorneys are looking for, to ensure that both Michael Jackson and his accuser get a fair trial."

Jury selection in Jackson's child molestation case began January 31st. Millions of people are following the case, likely the biggest since the explosive murder trial of O.J. Simpson. The trial itself is likely to last five months or longer.

"The allegations of sexual abuse make this case extremely sensitive," said Dr. Fraser. "Potential jurors probably will be asked if they or a loved one ever suffered such abuse. Most of us would have a very hard time talking about it publicly."

Dr. Fraser says serving on such a high profile jury likely will be a very stressful experience for some of the panel members. In fact, she says when the case is over, she wouldn't be surprised if some of the jurors experience depression, anxiety, or even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dr. Fraser is founder of The Trial Psychology Institute in Dallas, a group that provides trial and jury services to the nation's top litigators.
